8 fun and festive events to go to during your holiday break

Christmas is coming up fast, winter break coming even sooner, and everyone is searching for fun ways to spend the holiday season while they still can. Engaging in entertaining Christmas activities can range from close to home to a bit of a drive, and from expensive to free, but anything to get into the holiday season is definitely worth it. If you’re looking for some ideas, do not worry, we gathered some for you!

  • Holiday Movie at Lake Eola Amphitheater – Free – December 22nd, 2017

Every week in December, Lake Eola Park in Orlando plays a free holiday movie for you and some friends and family to enjoy at the outdoor amphitheater. The movie this week is ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ by Tim Burton, a perfect holiday film to get you into the holiday spirit in the final days before Christmas. More Info

  • Gaylord Palms ICE!® – $30 Per Person – November 21st, 2017 through January 7th, 2018

ICE!® is an event held at Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida that features two million pounds of ice carved into incredible sculptures for this year’s theme: Christmas Around the World. A thirty-minute walk through a frigid nine-degree indoor walkway gives you the experience of a lifetime, with a complimentary parka of course. More Info

  • St. Augustine Night of Lights – Free – November 18th, 2017 through January 31st, 2018

St. Augustine’s Night of Lights is a Christmas light display that happens every night in St. Augustine until the end of January of next year. As the sun goes down, the three million lights strung around the city turn on, and it is a sight like no other. Grab some hot chocolate from Kookaburra, the local Australian coffee shop, and enjoy the beautiful downtown scenery. More Info

  • Magic of Lights Daytona – $45 – November 17th, 2017 through January 1st, 2018

The Daytona International Speedway is putting on a drive-through light show for everyone to enjoy. Witness multiple lit-up scenes such as Candyland, Space, and 12 Days of Christmas as you take a slow drive through a one-and-a-half-mile course inside the speedway. Most importantly, to go along with the season of giving, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Florida Hospital Foundation. More Info

  • Mount Dora Christmas Tour of Lights – $10 – December 1st, 2017 through December 31st, 2017

Experience two million Christmas lights in the most spectacular scenes on a one-quarter mile walk through Mount Dora. Brilliant for photo ops and a great way to spend an hour on a December evening if you’re looking for some holiday fun. More Info

  • Disney’s Sunset Seasons Greetings – $120 – November 9th, 2017 through December 31st, 2017

By far the most expensive way to spend a holiday evening, however definitely the most magical! Disney’s Sunset Seasons Greetings, free with park admission, showcases light and music as well as a Florida Christmas miracle: snow! More Info

  • The Polar Express Train Ride – $40 – December 1st, 2017 through December 30th, 2017

Everyone’s favorite Christmas movie comes to life on the Polar Express Train Ride in Orlando. Featuring live performances on an actual train with complimentary refreshments, this is sure to make you feel the Christmas magic. More Info

  • Light Up UCF – Free – November 17th, 2017 through December 31st, 2017

Spend an evening in Orlando just outside of CFE arena with free family events such as holiday movies and Christmas light displays. For a little extra cost, some attractions include ice skating, an ice slide, and a Ferris wheel! More Info
