Spooky season is among us and while some chose to spend their fall season at pumpkin patches and watching Hocus Pocus cuddled up with a pumpkin spice latte, us thrill seekers have a much different plan. Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is the place to be for anything scary, from the rides to the houses and scare zones I have all the info on how to make HHN a spook-tacular night.

With 11 different houses to choose from and roughly 8 hours to do it all in its easy to get overwhelmed, but after being through all the houses myself, here are the top three to hit:

This house is a mixture of three favorites, Insidious, Sinister, and The Purge, separately these movies are all scary enough but put them together and it makes for one of the creepiest houses     at the park this year.

I know scarecrows don’t sound very spooky at all but I promise this house had me jumping out of my skin. The house has a lot of pop scares and you never see it coming because the costumes blend in so well with the decorations, I loved this house but if your easily spooked it might not be for you.

This is also one that I never expected to be very scary at all but this house had me shook. Everyone leaving the house leaves running/crying/laughing so its definitely one you should try out.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with the houses since they are all pretty terrifying in their own way. However, you can go wrong with how you prepare for the night. Here are some tips to make the most out of your experience:

  • I recommend going to the park just after 8 because that’s when parking becomes free and it will still give you a good 5 or 6 hours to venture the park
  • Bring light load. I like to put my pass and ID in a lanyard/fanny pack so that I don’t have to get a locker for rides/ have to worry about it in houses.
  • Make sure you have cash incase you get hungry. Universal has so many restaurants and snack stands, so even if you don’t anticipate spending money for food, you may be swayed by the delicious foods you see.
  • If you are sure you don’t wanna spend money, eat before hand. You can easily eat a meal at home or eat a cheap fast food meal before you go.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. Being spooked and chased by monsters can make you a little thirsty.
  • If you are able to afford it, purchase a frequent far pass! You can go multiple nights and you won’t be stressed tog et everything done in one night!

The most important tip is to have fun and stay safe! Halloween Horror Nights can be so much fun. You just have to make the best of it and bring along some good friends to get spooked with. Have fun at Halloween Horror Nights and don’t forget to tag @uhspress in your spooky photos!
