Due to COVID-19, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced all Florida schools closed for the remainder of the school year. During this time, students are required to remotely learn from home. With this being the first time students have to learn outside of school, it can be a challenge. Here is a list of five tips to help you complete your online classes.

  1. To-do lists

To-do lists are the easiest way to keep track of what needs to be accomplished each day. Start at the beginning of the week, making a to-do list for the whole week. Then break it down into each day of the week. This will help you see that all of your work can be accomplished before the due date. It will also ensure no assignment will be missed or forgotten.

  1. Colored notes

When taking notes, try putting them in color. For example, highlight all the headings green and the important facts yellow. This will help you associate the information with a specific color, making it easier to remember. Organized notes will lead to better and more efficient studying. As a result, you will perform better on your tests and assignments.

  1. Pomodoro technique

Working for hours straight on homework can be mentally exhausting and will lead to a lack of focus. The Pomodoro Technique is a tool you can use to allow yourself brain breaks throughout your classwork. The technique is designed for you to work for 25 consecutive minutes then take a quick five-minute break. After the fourth break, you will take an even longer break, for up to 30 minutes. This will lead to greater focus because you will be working for shorter amounts of time.

  1. Planner

Like the to-do lists, planners help layout your schedule for the week, but on a wider scale. With a planner, you can plan out your whole month. It will also help you manage your personal life with your schoolwork; you can put down events like doctors’ appointments or when your favorite Netflix show will be released. It can be hard to work around a busy schedule, but with a planner to lay everything out, it will be much easier.

  1. Ask questions, if needed

Not having the ability to see your teachers face-to-face can be a challenge when learning a new topic. If you are struggling, send your teacher an email and they will help you through your questions. Despite, not seeing them in person, your teachers are still here to help you and make sure you learn.
