On Friday, October 19, freshmen gathered around the SGA headquarters to vote on who they wanted to represent their class. After a weekend of waiting, they announced the winners on Tuesday, October 23; Kiara Mclean as president, Vivienne Merk as vice president and Madison Siegel as secretary.

“When I found out I won, I was shocked,” Mclean said. “I didn’t think I was going to win. I was proud of myself that I put in the work and effort to win.”

Though they have only been officers for a short amount of time, they have in mind what they hope to accomplish. They have put together ideas of what they want to contribute on campus.

“Right now, we’re fundraising, and all of that money is either going to go towards a senior trip or a senior memory,” Merk said.

Being a representative for the freshmen class means being the voice for them when some students may not have a say in certain situations when making a decision.

“I love being involved in my school and helping students have a choice of what happens at school,” Siegal said.

The freshman officers provide leadership and guidance to help the class of 2022 have a smooth first year of high school.

“I want to make our freshman year and hopefully the next three years of our high school experiences to be wonderful,” Mclean said. “I want everybody to be friendly and come together.”
