With Valentine’s Day nearing and many people on a budget, it can be difficult to find the perfect plans for Valentine’s Day without it costing an arm and a leg. Whether one plans on going out with a significant other, a best friend, or some family, downtown Deland is one of the best local areas to check out for the special occasion. One can find places ranging from gift shops, restaurants, book stores, and so much more. Here is a guide for spending your Valentine’s Day in downtown Deland.

  • To start off the day, you can’t go wrong with getting a good cup of coffee or tea with a muffin of the sort on the side. There are several places to check out in downtown like Boston Coffeehouse, Trilogy, and Campus Grounds.
  • Continuing the day, if you can’t decide what to get that special someone, just head to Dorothy’s Florist & Gift’s. From flowers to order, to teddy bears, knick knacks and more, there is plenty to choose from. Places like Destination also hold similar items, too.

“Look at it, the visual!” Dorothy’s Florist & Gifts owner Jeff Belington said, commenting on what made the shop so wonderful for Valentine’s Day. “We have fresh flowers, chocolates, candy, everything…gifts.”

  • Not sure where to grab a bite to eat? Not a problem, there are plenty of places to check out in downtown Deland. There’s somewhere to eat at for everyone’s budget, like places from Byte, to Forno Bello, to even Checker’s and a Pizza Hut.

 

  • To wrap the romantic night up, there of course is the necessity to go and get chocolate. Pat & Toni’s Sweet Things is best chocolate and candy shop to go to, with sweets including truffles, fudge, macaroons, and all the candy you can imagine.

“Everybody likes sweet stuff,” Pat & Toni’s Sweet Things owner Pat Mcmahon said. “Everybody likes chocolate and candy, and we have a really big variety…it’s good stuff!”

At the end of the day, downtown Deland is one of the best areas to stroll through for any holiday or special occasion, but Valentine’s Day being one of those special occasions in particular. With shops ranging from food, to gifts, and to sweets, there’s something for everyone to check out and enjoy.
